Best Management Practices (BMP)

The Industrial Storm Water General Permit requires covered businesses to identify and implement site specific Best Management Practices (BMPs) to reduce and eliminate potential pollutants in the storm water runoff.

BMPs are grouped as non-structural, such as housekeeping (daily sweeping), employee training, management inspections, placing activities under a roof, using absorbent socks and wattles, sediment fences, silt bags, container labels, and structural features such as roof, berms, secondary containment, filtration system, and collection/settling ponds.

From our cross sectional experience with a variety of industries, NEST can evaluate your facility/site activities and areas for effective source and point of discharge BMPs, estimate costs and suggest possible suppliers.
